January and February 2014 - Writing Roundup...

In January, I decided I needed to get my work out there however I could.  I sent away a couple of 'fillers' - a story about my dad, a comic photo of a camel - to womags to see if I could earn a little cash.  Still waiting, but these things can have a long waiting time... Also in January I went to a meeting at East Leeds FM to discuss the possibility of my own radio show about writing.

Mid-January, I had an email telling me about a local short story competition to celebrate Pudsey Library being in its new premises: write a 400 word story about the town of Pudsey, past or present.  The competition closed on 31st January and I was delighted to learn I'd won - a £10 book voucher.

February, I had an email from a cosmetics company, launching an 'ode' competition. Ten lucky winners would each win the product about which they wrote... again, I was delighted to win! Especially as I just chose the product I most wanted, read about it, and then wrote about it as if it was my favourite.

Peter Spafford, Director Words at ELFM, got in touch to ask when I'd prefer my show to go out - and also asked if he could use my Pudsey story for a flash fiction workshop he's running.

'Fallen', my almost-finished WiP, is up to 2000s on Authonomy, rising slowly from the 5000s to the 3000s and then jumping up in a very happy fashion.

As we enter March, 'Fallen' is at 1212 and I'm very happy with how it's shaping...
